NMBS #2- Phoenix Super-D

Today I raced my first ever Super-D. (Although to be fair, it wasn’t really a true Super-D since there was no Le-Mans start and you had to pedal almost the entire time.) OK, so it was more of a TT –especially in length. I won… barely. I edged Katerina out by a second or so. Wendy was 3rd again. Catharine had a mechanical, so she lost a bunch of time which was a bummer since the call-ups tomorrow are based on the finishing order today.

The course was fast and pretty flat and almost entirely on fire roads- a little disappointing since there’s some fun singletrack to be had here. I guess it’s better to be able to pass the whole time, but I’m a sucker for a fun trail. Anyway, short track is tomorrow in the late afternoon, so I think I’ll try to ride a quick lap of the XC course in the morning while it’s still cool out. (No, I’m not complaining about the heat, merely taking it into consideration…) It’s really beautiful out at the venue — all the wildflowers are out and the desert is in full bloom. I’ll try to take some more pictures tomorrow.
