NMBS #4- Deer Valley XC Race Report

After 2 days at home, we turned around and headed up to Park City, Utah for the fourth round of the NMBS series. The course was in great shape, and there were tons of wildflowers blooming. After pre-riding I was excited to race- the course was the same as in years past: fast and fun.

The start of the race wasn’t too bad but I was suffering pretty good by the top of the first steep climb- yay altitude! I rode well on the downhill, then not-so-well on the next climb. By the end of the 2nd descent, I had caught back up to Katerina and Catharine, and we all came through together on the first lap (way to go Waldek for the flawless feed).

Katerina and Catharine gapped me on the steep climb, but I tried to stay pretty steady, and slowly, slowly started to feel better as the race went on. By mid-way through the last lap I was feeling good and was able to move from 3rd into 2nd. Katerina rode super-strong to take her first NMBS National win, and she totally deserved it! I finished 2nd, Catharine finished 3rd and Chloe finished 8th- all the Luna riders in the top-10.

Today’s short track is one of my favorite courses- so hopefully I will be able to muster up some energy and have another good race.
