Pisa

Early Sunday morning we all left Scotland and went our separate ways: Katerina went to Czech to visit her parents, Waldek went to Poland to visit his parents, Chris met his wife in Munich and then headed to Italy for a little road-trip, Catharine went to Switzerland to visit a friend and I headed to Pisa to visit my aunt, uncle and cousins who live there.

I arrived at 11:30pm after a full day of traveling (a good 5 hours of which was spent in London Gatwick airport). It’s amazing how tired you can get from traveling- and all you are doing is sitting all day! Pretty pathetic.

Monday morning I woke up not-so-bright-and-early and visited with family before heading out on an exploratory ride. After lunch, I rode out to the coast (a 30 min ride) and there I found a park with a ton of trails (mostly wide double-track). The park was big enough that I rode around for the better part of an hour and never rode the same thing twice. Then I headed back to town and rode around and took pictures of stuff. Pisa is a beautiful old city and there are tons of cool buildings (and towers…). I went to see the leaning tower- but mostly I took pictures of all the tourists posing as if they were holding the tower up- it was pretty hilarious.

Today Matteo is going to show me how to access the trails on Monte Serra which is only a couple km away. Hopefully I will be able to explore nd find some good singletrack over there…
